Please note: After 25 years serving Manhattan's Upper West Side, the West Side Cooperative Preschool, also known as West Side Preschool, will be closing its doors at the end of this school year in June 2014, due to the fact that we have lost our lease.
A Note from the Director
"In 1989, a group of committed teachers and parents set out to open a school that would stress the spirit of community and friendship. I am proud to say that I was one of those teachers."
West Side Preschool has been a part of Manhattan’s Upper West Side renaissance for almost 25 years. Our school provides a learning environment that fosters cooperation and builds positive relationships. We are committed to the intellectual, social and emotional growth of each child. We believe play is the best way for children to accomplish skills, feel confident and independent. Our mixed age grouping, 2.9 - 4.9 years, challenges children’s natural curiosities.
The school’s spacious, sun-drenched classroom has high ceilings and is filled with exciting and rich materials. Centers and activities include a library room, writing center, blocks, imagination area, science, music and gym.
